Google Sites. Wtf happened to my images?
Community Forums/General Help/Google Sites. Wtf happened to my images?

http://sites.google.com/site/werdnaworldgames The images on my website seem to have disappeared! All that's left is a blank square that says 'image'. I tried repasting the link for my images(They're all linked to my site via photobucket), but to no avail. It will no longer load those images. However I can post different images just fine, that haven't been on my site before. So, before I go to the trouble of re-uploading all of these images to photobucket, and then linking them to my website, does anyone know what might have caused this? The images are still there on photobucket, so I think it's something wrong with google sites itself. Thanks! (Check out my new sig!) |

http://www.blitzbasic.com/Community/posts.php?topic=92292 Looks like problems with their image servers. We've lost a lot of Blitz3D images. Google are probably not going to lift a finger. |

Strange indeed. But why then would any new images I post be displayed? |
| ||
Because they are new? |

Your images are directly linked from Photobucket. It's a Photobucket issue. |

jhansOn is correct. The problem is not with google. it's with photobucket. try using imageshack. I never had problems with them and all of my images are still there. extending all the way back to 3 years ago. |

oh wow. I always thought photobucket was reliable ;( Thanks for the imageshack suggestion, I think I'll move my imagery over to there! |

Using free hosting, you get what you pay for. I went that route a long time ago, and every single attempt, after a while, something came up: the server went down, suspended free accounts, got extremely slow, had ads popping everywhere... Even being hosted by Google, I wouldn't recommend free hosting to anyone. Specially if you're trying to build a business. |

The images suddenly came back. I'm inclined to think it was a problem with google after all. And yeah Slotman, I know that free hosting is always a bit iffy since it is free, but I don't have the cash yet to pay for some proper hosting. When I do, I'll probably just use Godaddy. |

I'm inclined to think it was a problem with google after all. I seriously doubt that: - All google does is provide the HTML - User goes to your website, and google presents them with the html page. This works, or you wouldn't see anything at all. - The user's actual webbrowser will parse the HTML file, see the references to the photobucket images, and will them go out and load/display them, like you told it to. If you see the page minus the images, that means that google did its job, and photobucket dropped the ball. Last edited 2010 |

Well whatever, as long as it's fixed ;) At least photobucket got their act together. |
