How can I find music for my game?

Hi,

Lately, I've been looking for music that I can use in my games, but everything I can find is WAY over my budget.

Does anyone know of any free music I can use, or a website that sells/licenses music for affordable prices? (Less than $50, ideally)

I remember visiting a website once that licensed music for use in games for as little as $5, the catch is that the song could be licensed for other tiles as well, so it wasn't exclusive to your game. Does anyone know the site I'm talking about?

Thank you very much :)

Tip: There's quite a few pieces of music out there licensed under 'Creative Commons' (CC) that are free to use. There's different sub-licenses as well, e.g. some music can only be used in non-commercial projects, others require a mention in your credits, some only allow you to use it as-is without modification, etc... But perhaps a good starting point for a google search?

Well, my google search didn't turn up anything affordable... The cheapest song I could find cost $1500 to license. But I had forgotten about (CC), thanks for reminding me :) I'll start searching again.

What the hell? I'd want it played live by the London Philharmonic for that.

You don't need to rely on pre-made music available on the net.

You could also contact a local producer and see what musicians that have recorded with them have the sound you are after and possible licensing that way.

I found http://incompetech.com/ to be invaluable.

Also http://www.imphenzia.com/soundtrack/music.php looks pretty good.

Hope that helps!

Depending on what you want- I may be able to help. I thoroughly enjoy creating music so as long as it's not a rediculous request, I can usually throw together what you need. for $50 you're probably looking at a 1.5-2 minute piece.

Drop me an email at DamienSturdy@... and let me know exactly what you need.
