My hard drive is making noises whenever it reads something, is it about to break?

The noises sound like something vibrating

sure its not your case fan speeding up when you access the hd ? if it is , give the fan and heatsink a cleaning.

Might check the HD mount too see if the hd has a loose fit.

Normally weird noises are a bad thing.

First of all, check your BIOS to make sure that SMART is enabled (Self-Monitoring, Analyses and Reporting Technology)

This can detect imminent failures of hard disks, and let you know if it's about to die. (e.g. unexplained intermittent slowness, excessive CRC errors, etc. are all indications of a drive circling the drain)

Many motherboards support this functionality, but have it disabled by default.

Either way, NOW is the time to make absolutely sure that you have a proper backup -- with ANY harddrive, it's not a matter of WHETHER they'll fail, but WHEN. It's still a piece of metal that's spinning around 120 times a second, it WILL die at some point in the future.

Backup NOW regardless.

Especially if it sounds like a "tink tink" .stop. (spin up) noise.
Basically any noises with a "boinging" "tinging" or "sandy" sound should be taken seriously. I have herd far too many odd hdd noises and had crying users to know that if the HDD is making uncharacteristic noises it doesnt usually have long left

However if it is just a loud vibration noise try moving the pc about a bit (or the components inside), it could simply be that, vibration.
