I've finally decided how I'm going to release my Particle engine and editor (http://www.rigzsoft.co.uk for more info). Basically what I want to do is sell the editor but release the Blitzmax module as open source. I want a pretty relaxed license and from my googling it seems something like MIT or BSD - not sure what the difference is between those 2.

The license should allow for commercial usage and a general "do what you want with it" - but not for resale in anyway of course.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know, you have some restrictions the MIT or BSD won't cover I think. You should also look at the Creative Commons.

You will probably want to split the code into two projects, one open source and free and the other closed source and commerical.

you can release the module under MIT or BSD (I cant see the difference between them but personally I go with MIT)

I dont know what license to use for the commercial stuff though.

Thanks. Yeah MIT is what I thought too.
