XP and Vista both do this and don't handle it well but sometimes when browsing a CD or DVD Explorer seems to hang and I need TaskManager to quit it.

I've looked for an alternative and have found Directory OPus and it's very good and handles CD/DVD browsing crashes alot better but just wondered if there were any others I should try.

I just basically need a replacement for the Standard Vista Explorer. Maximum I'm willing to spend is $100 for it.

Don't think I've ever had XP explorer crash. It could be something else causing it.

I'll try Magellan. I found another one: http://www.zabkat.com/index.htm

The above one is cheaper than Opus and seems more stable with more features.

I use Speed Commander. It is a great utility. Very powerful, lots of features.

Jesus of dripping sweetness!

I remember Directory Opus - it was once an Amiga app.

Respect to the Amiga!

Sound like a hardware issue to me, maybe your DVD/CD drive is on its way out.
