Where are people getting their (Free) music and sound these days? It's not a commercial game, so free is required. Thanks in advance. |

Hello. There are some quality sound effects in the Sonniss packs (scroll to the bottom for previous packs): http://www.sonniss.com/gameaudiomonthly/ For music there's this for example: http://soundimage.org/sample-page/ But if you want quality music you should think of hiring a freelance composer. |

Just a fun little game - top sound/music quality not required...Thanks, will check those out. |

Yeah. A few artists release their songs under CC-BY (allowing commercial usage) or even public domain, and they usually post it here: http://freemusicarchive.org/ Just make sure to thoroughly check licenses, I found some artists that allowed commercial usage of a song in their FMA page but then specify a non-commercial license in their blog or website (that is, they're ambiguous). EDIT: In my case, a FMA search let me find musician Jahzzar that clearly lets people use his tracks for synchronisation (i.e commercial usage in a media product): http://betterwithmusic.com |

For sound effects, i prefer to capture my own. For music, for a past demo, i contacted the creator of a music that i found on youtube, and asked if i could use it for my demo, and he agreed and seemed happy. All he asked was that i mention his name as the creator of the music in a txt file. Cool guy :) I don't know if this is safe to only rely on the word of a creator (if you are authorized to use his music or not), but this is a possible approach to explore... (maybe keep the emails as proof that you were authorized to use the music in your game ?) |

I want to share a good read for those who are concered about copyrights and music (and other materials aswell). Part 3 is the interesting part "Responses from Copyright Owners" using informal ways to agree. http://www.dmlp.org/legal-guide/getting-permission-use-work-others |

More from Soniss: http://www.sonniss.com/gameaudiogdc2016/ In that page there's a link to a Torrent file "part 2". If you replace the 2 with 1, you get the Torrent to their first GDC audio pack (which isn't featured on the website anymore if I'm not mistaken). http://sonniss.com/GameAudioGDCPart1.torrent <-- This leads to a valid Torrent, even though it's not listed in their website. http://sonniss.com/GameAudioGDCPart2.torrent <-- This is the Torrent to the audio pack from the 2016 GDC in that webpage. |

@Kryzon Thanks You. :) |

Free content is mostly crap. Just because a game is non commercial doesnt mean you cant invest in making it look and sound great. |

Over time I realized that will not be much in this video games . So a free sound suits me , but for my project forklift , did the engine noise with a can of beer. |
