Freeware FLV to AVI converter?

Anyone know of a decent app for this? All I've found so far is crippleware are downloads of dodgy installers. :/ Something that can convert to divX format would be a bonus. Cheers. |

Not sure of the price but this is what many servers use https://www.google.com.au/search?ie=UTF-8&client=ms-android-telstra-au&source=android-browser&q=what+is+flv&gfe_rd=cr&ei=D7ABVcqwGc3u8weRj4HYBg#q=ffmpeg+flv+to+avi Look up ffmpeg. |

I use this, but do take care to uncheck ALL boxes and select Custom installation and uncheck in there too: http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/ Just reinstalled it to check the installer for "added features", and no nasties here following the above (I've used it for over a year)... own risk, and all that, but it works really well. If you decide to risk it, drag and drop the FLV -- this is where the AVI output setting is buried: Neither MalwareBytes or MSE had any problems with the installer or the completed installation, but do follow the above if you try it! |

Funnily enough, I did find 'any video converter' after posting. The installer did through up a couple of malware warnings - something to do with those PUP things. Thanks for showing where the AVI option is. I only had time to have a very quick look at it and thought all the options looked overwhelming. Cheers guys. |

Do you really need AVI/DivX? It's a pretty outdated, inefficient codec -- depending on your needs, you may want to consider MP4/h.264 , takes up about 50% of the size of divx at the same visual quality. Anyway, IIRC Avidemux can convert FLV to either AVI or MP4. Actual available formats may depend on what codecs you have installed on your PC. Handbrake is also free, and great to convert to MP4 specifically. |

Forgot about Handbrake. Think I used it ages ago for something. I need AVI for use in a frontend (not written by me). Seems like MP4 may be usable too, though. Ta. |

alternatively you can use ffmpeg directly (it is not a software with gui) 1. open url http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/ 2. scroll down 3. download a static variant 4. extract the file 5. copy the video in the extracted "bin" directory 6. open command-line tool (use google for more informations) 7. enter "dir path\to\directory" 8. enter "ffmpeg -i input.flv output.avi" 9. open url for more informations about all parameters https://www.ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg.html#Generic-options |

Hi, This might work and I use it here. Works great and coverts most anything, even AVI to GIF. Handbrake https://handbrake.fr/ |

Got this sorted now. Seems the frontend can use MP4 but only in the latest beta release. Cheers. |
