While I have my own language and a basic DirectX 9 game engine working, with the current need for multi platforms it seems like Opengl is the way forward.

I've always found Opengl faster than DirectX, but DirectX has always worked glitch free and supports more than just graphics on Windows.

So my question is, what have you found the most reliable and fast libraries when dealing with non graphics matters? The lower level the better.
