I have a Nvidia GT430 at present but need something with a little more power.

I'm considering a 2GB GTX660 Ti which is more or less within budget and much more powerful, but does anybody have any recommendations in the meantime?

(Don't tell me to get a GTX Titan - I do have a set budget to work with).

GTX 760 Maybe, should be about same price

I would take a look at Tom's 'Best graphics cards for the money'.

Once you decide on a card, look at a comparison of the offerings from different companies that produce that card.

Note:The GTX 660 you mention is also recommended at £170, you probably found it cheaper... so looks like a good choice.

I've found http://www.videocardbenchmark.net invaluable when comparing video cards... Both raw power & value for money charts, with all cards imaginable.
(And related, cpubenchmark.net for processors)

Thanks for the advice - just went for a look around and picked up a 1GB GTX 650 for £90. It's a little lower spec than what I had in mind, but it's a hell of a step up from my old GT430, and about half of what I was expecting to be paying out.

As an aside, I went in PC World. I reckon those guys are next for going into administration. It's now called Currys PC World, and the PC bit only accounts for about 20% of the shop - they now sell TVs, freezers and that kind of thing. They had 3 graphics cards on the shelf, none of them over £40 so I didn't even bother looking much further.

The Currys pc world here was originally just the two stores side by side now they have knocked the wall out but the TV's have encroached the pc end.
Not that I minded, I was looking at a huge TV for my pc, still running off my old 1280*1024 .
Oh and Digi Camcorders and cameras were eking along too, but a camcorder is on the cards once I get an idea of what no budget film to make, outside of the camcorder that is.

My GFX card is probably low end if not due to fall off the scale any day now, NVidia GeForce GT 640, when I was buying the pc it looked low end, but the games I bought were in the multi buy sale at Game so were probably new when the card was high-mid range.
