Obviously I need to figure how to get the right textures...

Keep up the work. Let's see how this progresses. There's a lot of Minecraft clones around right now, but I think there's room in the market for some good developments on the original idea.

Weii, all I'm hoping to do is use Minecraft to create levels.
I'd really like to use a minecraft map in its' entirety but
haven't had any luck with convertors that claim to do that.
This program lets you grab an area from your map and the good part is
that you can skip the many lower,underground layers...It saves the textures as a mtl file and I I don't know how to use that to put the textures on the saved model.

Well you may have issues loading an entire map as their technically endless. You can convert and load chunks of minecraft maps.

Update:

Worked out the textures.
Use arrow keys,mouse and A to raise Z to lower cam angle

Has nothing to do with a kangaroo.
Looks sloppy as all...but it can be done maybe one house at a time

I have tried your demo, it seems to work ok, even if i think you can really improve the camera behavior and the controls.

Anyway what do you want to know about your demo ?

It's just to show that minecraft can be used to model things.
Currently I'm thinking about scaling down the house models and making
a virtual city. Could make it into a game if it comes out looking decent enough. My biggest interest is how easy it is to make a model in minecraft
as opposed to some other tools. That's all.
