been messing with a bit of rendering as my freelance work is mainly
for production companies these days
I am not an expert but this is ok i feel

Understatement. It looks great!

But IMO, the white-part of the eye is supposed to be... um, white. :) Unless, she is not human, of course.

Or she's not perfect, has a disease/ailment, etc.

Ruz(Posted 2009) [#4]
well the eye is not actually white, it just looks thats way.

The mistake most people make is to make it 'brilliant' white like you were painting your flat to make it appeal to first time buyers:)

xlsior(Posted 2009) [#5]

True, but it's definitely whiter than in your image... It comes across a tad jaundiced. Other than that, it looks *amazing*, though!

degac(Posted 2009) [#6]
I like it (...and you are not expert????)
The only thing is the ear, I think it is still a wip.

Ruz(Posted 2009) [#7]
whe I said 'not an expert' I meant with regard to rendering. I am just so used to doing stuff for real time
The ear looks weird because I turned off the normal map as mental ray does not seem
to render them properly. seems to mess up the specular for some reason

I will probably lighten the eyes by about 15 to 20 percent, when I get time

Defoc8(Posted 2009) [#8]
as always ruz - fantastic work :) (forehead + eyes look a little too reflective..minor crit).

D4NM4N(Posted 2009) [#9]
If she had hair she would get the roast :D

(nice work as usual )

Robert Cummings(Posted 2009) [#10]
Sinaed o connor would be proud.

Ruz(Posted 2009) [#11]
actually i gogled her for reference:) ....... because she is bald

I'm assuming you're using Max (from your website). I don't have Max, so quoting from a thread at Mymentalray.com...

All you need to do is plug in a normal map into your bump mapping node like with a regular bump map, then change it to tangent normals and leave the depth at 1.

I'm not sure if that'll fix your issue, but there you go :) If it doesn't, feel free to post an image of your shader setup.

Ruz(Posted 2009) [#13]
I tried that Reactor. seems like a mental ray shader issue really.
I will look in to it again shortly

dogzer(Posted 2009) [#14]
GREAT HEAD! I'm a fan of yours now!

SpaceAce(Posted 2009) [#15]
First of all, I think she looks fantastic.

The eyes, though, don't seem quite right. I am not talking about the color, something about the way they are set into the face (especially the fold under the left eye) doesn't look quite right. Otherwise, throw some hair on her and she could pass for a photograph, great work.

Ruz(Posted 2009) [#16]
yeah it needs a bit of work still. will get around to it at some point

just did a fairly big site update for that have an interest in character stuff

Matty(Posted 2009) [#18]
I like it, well put together, but the pose leaves something to be desired, not 100% sure what it is though.

Ruz(Posted 2010) [#19]
yeah must work on my poses
BRDF shader in 3dsmax viewport

Panno(Posted 2010) [#20]

i am depressed about my 3d skill ............

Ruz(Posted 2010) [#25]
yeah the gun is still WIP
you can see the progress on my site
did a fairly big update today also

Ruz(Posted 2010) [#26]

nearly finished this now. just got to tweak some details and do the low poly for the holster and gun.

matibee(Posted 2010) [#27]
Yippee ki yay! :)

Great work!

Blitzplotter(Posted 2010) [#28]
fantastic looking work Ruz, very, very professional.

Ruz(Posted 2010) [#29]
cheers guys. learnt a lot doing this piece

therevills(Posted 2010) [#30]
Excellent work!

Just wondering, could you actually use this model in a game and get away with it?

Ruz(Posted 2010) [#31]
therevills - well its only going to be about 10,000 tris when finished, so yeah it will run fine in any next gen game engine.
some character models are 15-20,000 tris these days

therevills(Posted 2010) [#32]
Sorry Ruz, I didn't mean the tris size of the models. I meant that the model actually looks very much like a real recognisable person (in this case Bruce), could that real life person stop you using their life-like image?

Ruz(Posted 2010) [#33]
ahh I see what you mean. Its a bit of a grey area. He doesn't look exactly like him and I might call him 'brice wallis' or something:)

Probably though in all honesty I could n't make it in to a game. There are sure to be issues with licensing

therevills(Posted 2010) [#34]
lol@"Brice Wallis" - thats great!

Get hired to do the next Die Hard game and tell them "look what I prepared earlier" :D
