Hmm...I'm trying to emulate the Bejeweled look. But different shapes of course.

Colors? Vividness? Crispness? Does it look flat? Overall opinions?

Looks pretty good so far, but it is a bit flat requires a bit more sparkle. Try adding a few bright white pixels and the intersection where your whitest lines intersect.

Also, if you need inspiration for jewels, try www.wowhead.com. Just type in Crystal, Gem, Jewel etc in the search box and you'll get a few nice icons you can analyse to see how they do the effect.

Yeah I thought it looked a bit flat compared to the Bejeweled gems. Thanks for the tip and I'll check out the site.

Edit: WOW!! (pun intended)...that site is the perfect research for my game. Thanks!

Geez ok...my game art is going to take a new direction. I'm digging the wow art big time...

I think the edges need to be sharper assuming it is a hard gem stone.

Looks like a nice rupee...

Yeah, it's my first attempt and it definitely looks flat. Back to the drawing board.

Does it?

I think you meant 'ruby' ;-)

I think you meant 'ruby' ;-)

Nope! :)

I meant exactly what I typed. Rupee. As in Legend of Zelda.

Hmm... Chroma, weren't you the one asking for Legend of Zelda heart-system help? I think I see a clone coming!

Ah.

Never played Zelda, so I didn't get that reference.

Rupee = National currency of India in my book. :-?

Kryzon(Posted 2009) [#12]
Heh, funny how for some people (like me), the first thing to come to mind when hearing the name "Rupee" is Zelda and not India.
It's like the game gets to be more famous than the currency.
