New ship for FLOOD

Community Forums/Graphic Chat/New ship for FLOOD

well I just designed a new ship for my game flood, it will be scaled down a bit in game. I make stuff in MS paint lol (I know I might get shot for that but its actually not bad... I have photoshop but am just too lazy to learn how to use it except the blur and smudge function for some of my images) :)

and here it is:

not bad for ms paint! But I think I will work on it a little in photoshop to blur it

Heh heh, yeah. I paint.

The curves don't look bad, being pixel art, but it doesn't really look like a ship to me. Kinda looks like Dr. Suess pajamas to me. Maybe add a glass bubble to the top, or some thrusters?

lol dr suess pajamas huh? That could make the name FLOOD take on a whole different meaning... if you catch my drift... and ya this is just the shape, ill try adding some other stuff.

would make an awesome guitar body. It is almost a cross between a BC Rich Warlock and an ESP AX.

Arowx(Posted 2009) [#6]
So is that using a swept forward wing design for better manouverability or is it the other way up?

Nate the Great(Posted 2009) [#7]
in this pic, up is forward.

Who was John Galt?(Posted 2009) [#8]
If you were thinking of ever selling this, the name 'Flood' could cause you problems. It was an old Amiga game by (I think) Bullfrog.

Oh, and LOL@Dr. Seuss' pyjamas.

_Skully(Posted 2009) [#9]
I would make the ship look like a space version of a firetruck ;)

WRT the name Flood...

Pete Carter(Posted 2009) [#10]
The ship you were using was good. If you do change it _skully's idea sounds good. If you want to make pixel art Pro motion 6 is better than photoshop.

Nate the Great(Posted 2009) [#11]
on another forum some guys drew some ships for me so I think ill draw a few more and give the user a choice for now.

_Skully(Posted 2009) [#12]
Heres what your ship in flood should look like..and get bigger as it sucks up water...

Nate the Great(Posted 2009) [#13]
thats disgusting for a game skully... maybe I could make its belly pulse when you were too full of water and then it would explode...

If I were playing a game and the game wanted me to be that thing, I would control alt delete it almost immediately.

_Skully(Posted 2009) [#14]
aw come on... you could even have steam coming out its head for movement!

I came across that looking at public domain sprites lol... I don't think that one is PD anyway but I just had to post it LOL

Sauer(Posted 2009) [#15]
Why draw it yourself? There are thousands of ship sprites for free on the internet. Just google "spaceship sprite". I'd spend your time coding.

Here's one:

Here's a ship!

Something like that would be cool

Kryzon(Posted 2009) [#17]
Wow _Skully, where is that from? great lighting; and it's a pretty good idea to pre-render high poly 3D models.

Nate the Great(Posted 2009) [#18]
wow those are nice skully lol... do you have the models? lol

and I think ill keep the more retro looking ones I have now and improve on the ship later... for now ill just code it.

_Skully(Posted 2009) [#19]
I wish i could take credit!

Its from http://www.positech.co.uk/blog/31stmarch.jpg, i believe its a star trek ship though i've never seen it before

there are lots of free spaceship models out there though, if you have a decent renderer, B3D even, you could just snapshot it

_Skully(Posted 2009) [#20]
For example... made by one of our own :)

It's from Gratious Space Battles - sheck out the youtube video of that game, it looks awesome. I've seen his progress posts in the indie-gamer forums.

_Skully(Posted 2009) [#22]
It does look awesome actually!
