Lookin good. Is that snow or sand on top of that rock and why isn't it on the other one?

Sand....untextured test for shadow casting.

Just testing the base res. in these shots to see how it looks.

Full sim going on in the background tho....3 islands thus far. 32 enemy, 2 tanks / chopper and a jeep!

..is this purely B3D (I assume shadowmapping is real time)?

Pure, yes. Dynamic shadow casting, no.

It's really just a couple screen dumps showing water depth graduation. The shadowmap is just a texture created from a top-down view in 3D Studio.

Just a note about the water; it's three layered and animated using a freeware caustic generator. This is my low-spec option for slow PC's. Soon I will be working with a DLL for reflect / refract fx.
