Many of you have seen my earth. Yesterday I decided to complete my collection of planets, and bring them together in a clip. Find the clip at the bottem of the clips page of my website (linked to in my sig). Obviously the planets are way to close together, incorrectly distanced from the sun, ill-proportioned, and pluto and mercury have fake textures : GET OVER IT. It's on youtube, so obviously the quality sucks, sorry. Here're some teaser pics:
(these aren't from the clip, but they're the same planets I used in it)

(if you guys want, I can post hi-res pics of each planet)
feedback is in desperate need :)

PS: HURRAY FOR AD-PLASTERING!!

Chwaga,

Excellent. Especially if rendered in realtime.

Earth is very nice. Maybe too glossy and well lit to be realistic but this is the sort of 'nicer than reality' style that would be great for some styles of game.

My only dislike here is the clouds. Too thick and monotonous in colour. Needs greater coverage but with more transparency, wisps and trails in some psuedo weather patterns.

The Saturn / ring dimensions seem to me to be wrong. The rings start too close to the planet and don't extend far enough outwards. Or conversely the planet is too large. Perhaps it is only the perspective but compare to

Here are some dimensions from Nasa:

Ring Name: D
Distance*: 67,000 - 74,500 km
Width: 7,500 km

Ring Name: C
Distance*: 74,500 - 92,000 km
Width: 17,500 km

Ring Name: Columbo gap
Distance*: 77,800 km
Width: 100 km

Ring Name: Maxwell gap
Distance*: 87,500 km
Width: 270 km

Ring Name: B
Distance*: 92,000 - 117,500 km
Width: 25,500 km

Ring Name: Cassini division
Distance*: 117,500 - 122,200 km
Width: 4,700 km

Ring Name: Huygens gap
Distance*: 117,680 km

Ring Name: A
Distance*: 122,200 - 136,800 km
Width: 14,600 km

Ring Name: Encke division
Distance*: 133,570 km
Width: 325 km

Ring Name: Keeler gap
Distance*: 136,530 km
Width: 35 km

Ring Name: F
Distance*: 140,210 km
Width: 30 km - 500 km

Ring Name: G
Distance*: 165,800 - 173,800 km
Width: 8,000 km

Ring Name: E
Distance*: 180,000 - 480,000 km
Width: 285 - 440 km

* The distance is measured from the planet center to the start of the ring.

Demo?

Or just static shots?

This all looks very good.

The Saturn looks very nice.

Very nice!

Saturn looks excellent but i agree with PGF on rings.
Earth could use less contrast and needs more 'fluffyness' (transparancy at edges?) to the clouds prehaps :/
Love the atmospheric glow tho :)
There is an image somewhere (try goog. images) of the world showing the artificial light clusters of cities etc, this might be a nice touch to add too, assuming its present day earth :)

PS, theres not enough cloud over the uk ;D

thanks for the feedback, i can't manage to get the clouds to look right, but if i've got time, i'll blur them some more

Have you tried an 32bit alpha png textured layer?
