Here's a link to the demo.

Please note that the terrain code was written by Peter Rigz and my apology to all for not initially posting that fact.

Nice!

You've got my attention. Could you tell us a little more about this?

puki(Posted 2007) [#4]
Interesting - I'll take it.

Is the bird flight code included?

The terrain is looking like FLE/ALE something, using slope texture. On the right side there's something looking like bumpmapping? Nice scene light. The lightmap is using smoothing groups, or it's emulating them. Probably giles. But maybe it ain't a Blitz render at all.

stayne(Posted 2007) [#12]
Why is it "maybe" not a Blitz render? It's all in the art.

jfk EO-11110(Posted 2007) [#13]
Because of the bumpmapping (I know Blitz has dot3, but people rarely use it). And also because giles has a seam where the pseudo smoothing groups are looping. But of course it could be blitz nevertheless. From what I read in the other thread, it IS Blitz.

I'm guessing he's using Andreyman's lib. Downloading the demo now.

IPete2(Posted 2007) [#15]
Hee,

Downloading now to check it out.

Just ran demo, very nice! You should think about making a game.

Pete Rigz(Posted 2007) [#17]
Nice. This is using my terrain engine I released as open source a while ago. Good to see people getting some use out of it. All I would say is make the fog a lighter colour, it seems it is set to black atm but I think for a daytime scene a lighter colour that reflects the skyline would look better.

Moraldi(Posted 2007) [#18]
Pete Rigz: Is there a link to download your terrain engine?

Pete Rigz(Posted 2007) [#19]
The original thread is here http://www.blitzbasic.com/Community/posts.php?topic=53717#599972, I can't host the file any more but I think ojay kindly hosted it, the link should be in the thread somewhere.

bingman(Posted 2007) [#20]
I put Pete Rigz code on my server. Here's the link.
