A new Bonebroke Games website is online... I would like to know what you think about the color scheme, layout etc...
Also your overall impressions of the site. Does it annoy you? does it look boring? anything....

Thanks alot in advance.

oh... and the website is http://www.bonebroke.com

Generally I like it, nice simple, clean design.

This may not be of any concern to you, but the swearing, and the bone imagery, might be off-putting to some of your potential audience. Just a thought. Doesn't bother me.

You may want to think about what purpose your site will have: is it to sell games? is it to record your development? At the moment it seems to be more of a personal website than a business/outlet. This is down to the text rather than the design.

Good luck with it, and Nano.

Slightly too white-ish maybe... it's morning and bright scheme like yours really hurt my eyes. Site itself was simple and functional, I'd like to have more gfx in some form (where's Nano shots???), right now it's almost completely text. Blog might be good addition, personally I have never understood what they are to never read them.

"nano: Inside Veronica"... hmmm... sounds pOrny... is your girlfriends name Veronica? :)

Bouncer(Posted 2006) [#4]
No, my girlfriends name is not Veronica, but she becomes one when I put a wig on her and take some pretty pictures. (She doesn't know about my plans yet). I'm planning a nude gallery of Veronica and once you finish the game you get access code to it :)

What can I say... prOn sells :)

Bonebroke Games is an independent, mostly one-man gamehouse trying to produce a game of high quality and playability.

This makes you sound a bit weak and lacking in confidence. Consider replacing it with something more concise and decisive. Perhaps "Bonebroke Games is dedicated to developing high quality, highly playable, unique independent games."

But most of all, a game with soul.

What exactly does this mean? It sounds a bit weak and naive to me, and it hardly gels with your "0% bullshit" tagline.

Nano is the debut game of Bonebroke Games. It's been in on-off development for a several years now, and the idea of the game has expanded quite a bit. Now I have finally decided to finish this thing, so the fulltime development will start 1.12.2006 and continue as long as my savings last or my girlfriend kicks me out.

This is humourous, but it also makes you sound indecisive and uncommitted. Your final sentence in this paragraph says that development will continue as long as your girlfriend kicks you out - did you mean that it will continue as long as she doesn't kick you out? If so, then you should modify the last part to ".. and my girlfriend doesn't kick me out."

Clearly you are trying to inject some personality and humour into your website, but, in my opinion, as it stands, it portrays you as weak willed, idealistic and uncommitted, which I am certain is not really the case. In other words, it's bad publicity.

Regarding the general look of the website - it seems somewhat grey and grainy to me. Consider making it brighter and cleaner. Whilst a nice idea, the boney fingers seem a bit sketchy to me, and the background grain behind the finger images is ever so slightly - but noticably - different to the background grain behind the rest of the website, resulting in a clear box surrounding the finger images.

I hope this is useful to you.

I was thinking a wig somewhat like this...

Luke: Yes... some good feedback. Thanks. You brought up some good points. Now that you mentioned it, parts of my text sounds really corny. I'll think again.

Bouncer(Posted 2006) [#8]
Luke: Strange thing about the finger images is, that in photoshop their bakcground RGB is 239,239,239 and my websites BG should be 239,239,239. And I don't see a box in neither of my machines. weird.

Someone else seeing a box around the fingers?

[EDIT: there were some pixels slightly different colors. should be fixed now??!]

JustLuke(Posted 2006) [#9]
I checked again and I can still see the boxes. They are extremely faint though and they people probably wouldn't notice them unless they were specifically looking for them.

Uh...sorry to call the grammar police but...

Respect the roots. Brake the rules.

Bit of a novice error there (Hint: it should be 'Break')
Also it's 'interesting' with one 'r'.

I do however like the design. It doesn't try to be anything it isn't. My only crit is about the red links on the Nano page that look a bit plain. I would've made the title screen front and center, with the links underneath. You could possibly make some simple buttons like the 'Home/Nano/Blog' ones at the top for 'Features/Story' to use instead. Either way it's nice and clean.

Jimbob:

Lol.... Damn those spelling errors... there's always something ;)

Good suggestion about the buttons... they would be better.
