Exporting Wings to Unwrap

I have a weird problem.

I create a model (a girder) in Wings then export it to Unwrap as a 3ds.

Then when I unwrap in Unwrap it seems to create a poly per tris. So one of the polys tris is the tris in the model the other one cannot be selected.

What the hell am I doing wrong?

In fact is the 3ds OK? If so how the hell should I unwrap this?

Any help would be apreciated - the zip below contains the wings and 3ds file.

Both the Wings file and the 3ds file are fine. You are using more polys than you need to for that shape, but there is nothing "wrong" with those files besides using a few more polys than needed.

For a shape that simple, why not just do the mapping in wings? it takes about 10 seconds using auto UV.

steps to apply mapping to this in wings:

1. go to face mode or object mode, select all faces
2. right click, choose UV mapping
3. right click,... segment by projection
4. right click,... continue,... projection

done.

Pongo,

thanks. And do you know how to do it in Unwrap?

sorry, don't use that one,... I do all my unwrapping in 3dsMax.
