Here is the current progress:

This is a 3D rpg character dude I'm working on for somebody (3DS Max 7). Also, made the VR background in PS7. Shhhh...don't tell anybody but, this is actually my first time modelling an actual humanoid character.

So, if anyone wants to give me advice, tell me it sucks, or give me mad props feel free.

To do:
Fingers, Feet, Head, Refine/Detail Body, Rig, Animate

I use a combination of Max tutorials, and Psionic tutorials.

P.S. Since some weed always feels the need to bring it up, Yes, I have a legal copy of 3DSM7 registered to me. No, I didn't pay for it. Yes, I have a hook-up at Discreet. No, I can't get extra copies.

I can't hotlink the pics so you'll have to cut/paste, and can't ftp to my servers from the nanny net here in Iraq.

You may want to consider spending your time learning from tutorials/books so that you can learn techniques/proportion/modeling issues (geometry and design for animation) etc before attempting to do the trial and error method. It is a much faster process to learn proper techniques from others than to just figure them out all of them on your own.

Here is a good place to start if you are interested:

The most obvious criticisms I see are:

in the leg area you did not follow your reference very well! What is the point of a reference if you aren't going to use it?

You need more geometry around the elbow and knee for animation.

the shoulder is not a seperate entity from the chest and back.... the shoulder blends with the chest and back. Right now your arms look 'stuck' on there instead of being a characters arms.

The torso doesnt seem to have enough geometry, and this is evident in the groin area that appears to be sharp instead of smooth.

Everything seems to be boxy (and it seems you used box modeling techniques). Try adding additional edges and manipulate them to give the mesh a more organic feel.

That should be enough to help you improve some. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advo. I think I've seen that tut before but, will check it out again. The shoulder and chest I'm quite aware of. However, the arm was bevelled out from a pentagon I made on the side of the body. After I finish the fingers, head, and feet I'm going to go back refine the shoulders. Then add detail/refine the torso, chest, etc. as needed.
Check the first post to see my updated current progress.

Heres the best comment I can give you; buy a book on anatomy.

seriously, you'll increase your skills 10x. I recommend 'Burne Hogarth' books, theyr very very good.
