We were discussing on IRC whether or not Ghoul's models are nice or not. I had a few freebies lying around, so I knocked up a little demo in Quest3d to show one off. It should run on most hardware, but the radial blur effect probably won't show up on non-shader hardware. No idea how fast it will be, but it's very smooth at 1024x768 on my 9700 Pro. It supports a wide range of resolutions anyway, so give it a bash.

Look's very nice, looking at other engine's just make's me more impatient for Max3D mod.

But Mark is doing a top job so i dont mind how long it might take.

This runs far smoother and looks infinitely better than the recent BlitzMax demo.

Nice one Sybixsus looks good, and runs perfectly here :D

Stuart Morgan(Posted 2005) [#5]
That looks very good from the screenshot!

No radial blur or bumping present though on my 5+ year old system.

Great model :-)

Of course, this isn't pre-alpha whereas the BMax demo is.

it runs smoothly

What Pert said.

Is it DirectX app ?

Gabriel(Posted 2005) [#10]
Neat, I'm glad it's working for most people. I'm disappointed that the bump mapping doesn't work for everyone. It only uses two texture stages, but I guess I must be using a blend mode which isn't supported on old hardware or something.

Ed: Yes, it's DirectX 8.1. There's a newer version which offers DX9 support, HLSL shaders, etc, but this is just in the old version from a year or two back.

Works fine for me but its not half as impressive as the BlitzMax demo. Probably due to the fact that the radial blur effect is shooting out in all directions making it look like the models having a "bad hair day".

That's what radial blur is supposed to do. The BlitzMax demo does not include radial blur, that's something else entirely.

Runs very smooth here even at very High res's.

Nice little demo.

Caff(Posted 2005) [#14]
Nice, although I do prefer the shadows and depth stuff in the Bmax3d demo.

I know! Let's have two completely identical graphics demos!

Very nice demo.
