Here's a WIP image from my upcoming game. Everything was built in lightwave converted to B3D with Lee's fantastic converter and then given the big workover with Guile[s].

Still have some more work to do but I thought it was close enough for show and tell.

Excellent work, it looks very realistic. Hopefully your character models look realistic too, to fit into that environment.

Very professional. Maybe the walls are a little bit too clean (probably need some dirt in the corners). But a very nice job.

That's great!

Greetings Puppies,

Why is everyone obsessed with dirt on textures? The above is a plush hotel and unlikely to have skidmarks on the wallpaper.

By the way, nice image.

Peace,

Jes

ooooh whats it for in your game?

Caff(Posted 2004) [#9]
Two things:

The light under the chair at the front - where's this from?
The curtains don't quite fit the rest of the scene

shadows are just a bit too dark... otherwise, excellent...

i really feel like i'm in the room (from the shot)...

Thanks for the comments!

>Hopefully your character models look realistic too, to fit into that environment

Actually, the whole room is under 6000 tris. I did that so I could devote more geometry to the onscreen character. :)

>Maybe the walls are a little bit too clean

It's a Penthouse suite in a posh hotel. So, clean is the word!

>ooooh whats it for in your game?

Not telling, yet. :) But do a little history on me and take a look at my recent demo and you might be able to figure it out yourself.

>The light under the chair at the front - where's this from?

That's an error in the shadowmap. It'll be fixed soon.

>The curtains don't quite fit the rest of the scene

Really? I kind of dug the color. It's a little over saturated but the whole gold tone I thought went well with the ritzy hotel suite theme.

very nice ^^

Lush!

wizzlefish(Posted 2004) [#14]
Wonderfully and spiritually professional design, with a touch of warmth and lush lightmapping, creating a homely connection with the game itself.

The above was used to dramatically declare how good this work was.

MadJack(Posted 2004) [#15]
A little black dress draped gracefully over the sofa shoulder would be a nice touch...

poopla(Posted 2004) [#16]
I think this looks brilliant! Keep it up.

Dustin(Posted 2004) [#17]
Thanks again guys.

@MadJack: You're getting warmer. :)

Bot Builder(Posted 2004) [#18]
Fantastic. the sofas are great.

As for the curtains, the theme of the room is that sofa green color, Imho it'd look better green. but thats just a minor matter. In game I wouldnt think about it at all.

OMG, it's not gonna be a 'High Class Hooker Simulator', is it? :P

Dustin(Posted 2004) [#20]
Nope. :) But here's my previous demo: http://www.blitzbasic.com/Community/posts.php?topic=38041
See if you can connect the dots.

MadJack(Posted 2004) [#21]

Greetings Puppies,

[quote]But I have studied walls IRL a lot[\quote] Really, you need to get out more ;0)

Peace,

Jes

Shambler(Posted 2004) [#25]
Get out and you will find them even dirtier on the outside ;)

Nice pic...curtain texture looks low res compared to everything else though.
