Finally, my first *usable* model.
Please take a look and give me some feedback about it:

Note: I´ll probably put here an image of it with some texture.

Links don't work

Kryzon(Posted 2004) [#3]
Are you sure? For me they work...
I'll try to fix it.

aha! I fixed. Try now.

First link has .bmp, should be .jpg. Gun itself is very basic and blocky, almost cartoony. Definately needs more polygons if you're aiming photo-realism here, and textures, of course.

Kryzon(Posted 2004) [#5]
Here's the textured version.
(I made the texture quickly, so, it could be better).

Agamer(Posted 2004) [#6]
I agree it looks blocky, but it is a start, try beveling the edges, might make it look a bit better!

wizzlefish(Posted 2004) [#7]
looks good so far...

Pretty good, good to see another Milkshape3d user around here too.

Not bad. I guess it has very few Polys. Texture needs a lot of work. (Hint, use original photos from the web to make your textures, yahoo has millions of links) Next time try to use a slide that has a shape like this:
(watched from in front of it)

  __n__
 / \
/ \
¦ ¦
¦ ¦

Thanks for the comments :).
It's very hard to draw the texture. You're right jfk, i'll
try to make the texture from real pictures.

Milkshape doesn't have a Bevel tool, so I guess i need to
use Smooth Group to simulate a bevel effect, i mean, smooth a little bit the edges so the gun can look more "real".

For those who want to know how i made this gun, go see
this tutorial. You can use it to model any gun you want, not only a M4a1.

Sorry for my english, i'm a Brazillian ;)

Now, instead of fixing the pistol, i decided to make a new one :

jfk EO-11110(Posted 2004) [#12]
Wow, looks much better!

Rob Farley(Posted 2004) [#13]
Shame you've only textured it from the side. Try texturing the top, front etc. Also I'd aa a few more triangles on the trigger guard.

Kryzon(Posted 2004) [#14]
Thanks guys. Rob, I'll texture it using LithUnwrap's box texturing mode, this way i'll texture ALL the sides.

Thanks for all the tips and comments!
