Here is a future warrior WIP I'm working on. I just started working on the model in 3DS Max 6. I scratched up the concept art for the model in about 20 minutes. I drew half of the pic first with pencil and paper, then scanned it. Colored in Photoshop 7, and threw in an effect to add depth. There still isn't enough of the actual 3d model done to post it yet. I thought someone might appreciate my 'concept art' skills though. I'll post the 3d model wip tomorrow hopefully.

I referenced the pic from this real photo:

3rd picture from the top.
You can see more samples and other stuff at my Evolved website.

Looks like hes about to go paint-balling.

Take a look at some anotomy drawings. You need to get the porportions right. The design of the outfit is fine, looks very much like a tron outfit but without the glow though.

like the outfit..looks like Hudson, krytons replacement

CodeD(Posted 2004) [#5]
Who is Hudson? Is that the spacey guy on your website? It looks like him.
I used to program on the Amiga and C64, too. Neat stuff.

Okay, here is a current 3d model wip, I accidentally pressed a wrong button somewhere and screwed up the rest of my progress but, at least the helmet remains.

hudson was from red dwarf..he was krytons replacement in the episode "The last day"

CodeD(Posted 2004) [#8]
ah, that's pretty cool. I thought Red Dwarf was a british? or a canadian? space comedy though. Hmmm...

You should widen those hips a little..
Else, a good drawing!

thought the future us army warriour is looking more kind of like marquis de sade or something

CodeD(Posted 2004) [#11]
What...is...marquis de sade? If you look at the link that I posted at the top it shows the two different 'future models' the army has planned, one for 2010, one for 2020.
The 2020 looks cool, the one I referenced. But, the question lies if they already have a 2020 suit, why make a 2010 suit??
Hmmmmm...
And the 2010 suit is merely a mock-up of gear the US Army is already using.

jfk EO-11110(Posted 2004) [#12]
That was just a joke. Marquis de Sade is said to be the inventor of sado-maso stuff (hence sadism), including sexually motivated torture. As you see, this was concerning guantanamo etc.

I know, your sketch is looking much like the real future soldiers, also a bit like the Anti-Demo Cops we see these days.

But as somebody said, use correct proportions. Grab a pic of da-vincis Human (the guy with 4 arms) and use it as bottom layer for your sketches in photoshop. Later you still can delete this layer.

Nice trick!!

You should post a shaded view of the 3D model. A wireframe view (with the cage obscuring the subdivided model, even) is just visual noise.
