Uncle(Posted 2004) [#16]
Looks nice. However I get black squares around some on the sprites (like the mask isn't working properly). I get the same on my laptop and my desktop.

Cheers,

Unc

Paul "Taiphoz"(Posted 2004) [#17]
thats nice looking.

Id lose the lense flair though and just make the glow stronger.

slenkar(Posted 2004) [#18]
"cant set graphics mode"

Kozmi(Posted 2004) [#19]
One again filax, You produced yet another masterpiece..;)

Perturbatio(Posted 2004) [#20]
very nice, but those planets look a tad close to each other, they're in serious danger of colliding.

Filax(Posted 2004) [#21]
The planet are sprite because 3D planet make me problem.

_PJ_(Posted 2004) [#22]

Tell me about it...

Picklesworth(Posted 2004) [#23]
This is cool. Not much I can tell you to fix...

I think the lens flare is too solid. Perhaps instead of that you should have a glare on the window of the ship. just have a white sprite with an alpha map done using a radial gradient. Or you could go more in depth and actually have a window, casting a fake lighting operation on it a the right times.

The sound in this is great, and I love how you managed to do that scene with low poly counts and still made it look good.

Dirk Krause(Posted 2004) [#24]
Very good! How did you do the multitexturing effect inside the ship?

Picklesworth(Posted 2004) [#25]
That looked like Noel Cower's vein engine to me, but I could be wrong.

Jim Teeuwen(Posted 2004) [#26]
The Demo looks well nice. Very Freelancer-ish feeling to it. Great space map!

When you fly into one of the landing bay's of the ships, you can still see the lil star sprites around you though, makes em look like tiny little floating snowflakes instead of star in the far distance ^^

Anyhoo, nice work

po(Posted 2004) [#27]
0 fps :(

Picklesworth(Posted 2004) [#28]

That atually also happens in most space games, such as Tachyon: The Fringe, and probably Freelancer.
My tip for stopping it is to make the particles stop creating when you hit the little shield before entering the docking bay.

Red(Posted 2004) [#29]
babylon 5 is a starstrek-like ?

Chip&Chop(Posted 2004) [#30]
On a Gef2GTS ti, 64MB DDR, Athl1800, 512ram, WinXP/98ii I see all sprites with no trasparency. I see planets, debris, and nebula in black surrounded quads. 45-98FPS.

On a Gef3, 128MB, P4, WinXP, no problem, 60-120FPS.
