Hello Anybody using DIGIMI package by DAZ Studio ? It includes 3 modules : Decimator - Atlas for textures - FBX exporter You can import a DAZ model, reduce the number of polys , create a texture suitable for game engines and export an FBX file To me it seems to be a good opportunity for those who dont have skill and / or time to create complex characters since you can rely on the huge DAZ library There are many " poly reducer " on the market but the beauty of the decimator is that it is optimized for the DAZ UNI Mesh As you know all the DAZ models share the same mesh |

I thought use of Daz3D geometry for games was prohibited? |

GfK is correct - although DAZ was going to release low poly versions of their models for game usage at some point.. |

I thought use of Daz3D geometry for games was Nope I forgot to mention it Now you can use them also for commercial projects You must just pay about double price than standard models Anyway the price remains much cheaper than most of Turbosquid high quality models Not to mention of course custom made ones |

Anyway the price remains much cheaper than most of Turbosquid high quality models I'm not so sure about that. By the time you've paid for a base model, some morphs to make it not look like a base model, some clothing, accessories and textures for it, it all gets pretty expensive even if they weren't charging double the price for the privilege. Not to mention of course custom made ones |

Well an high polys Turbosquid model, complete with clothes, accessories, expressions etc can cost 400+ usd and most of the time it is not rigged With DAZ models you dont even get close to such price Moreover you must reduce the number of polys, not an easy task All DAZ models share the same mesh which makes decimator an efficient tool Decimator allows to apply different reduction rate to different body parts I got an 8000 tris model staring from a 36.000 tris one At mid distance you dont see the difference |
