MilkShape for modelling , Fragmotion for animation

Well, the truth of fragmotion prominence following, although its setting is a little difficult at first, it highlights the bones and vertex animation and 3d modeling is not left behind, as in the 3D view is very similar to blender or 3d max, where the user can manipulate the scena directly, something that only happens in MilkShape.

why dont you animate with blender?

Fragmotion, Milkshape is a complete lightweight compared to it.

I actualy made all mi animations in Milkshape one by one.
Then i use Pacemaker to import the animations that i want in to any model that has the same skeleton.

There are more advanced tools but Milkshape is easy and works for me.

Fragmotion
..although i use blender to model and animate now since the b3d ouput script came along because it has a -really- great animator, I would go as far as to say better than 3DS Max's. Fragmotion makes a good converter though (as does milkshape)
