dont know to both. :D I guess it depends on what you want to model (for example i want to draw a load of lines and turn them into walls.) I think for a level this would be crap.

You can do the same thing on every 3d modelling program out there.

On 3d Max, texture any plane, use splines, extrude, smooth, voilá. I bet Blender (or any other program) has similar features.

Also, on the second link you can see the ammount of polygons generated by this method... a little too much for game usage, imho :P

I'm still amazed it took this long for this technology to find it's way into commercial software. I first saw this technique demoed by a Japanese grad student ten years ago:
