Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#1]
I started a new thread about Unlimited Drop Pro because I think it is not subject of General Discussion any more.
Here is the link for the last demonstration video about Actor Types as I promised to you:
http://www.moraldigames.com/videos/Painting.mov

Videos about Texture and Brush Editors you can find here:
http://www.blitzbasic.com/Community/posts.php?topic=74187

EDIT: The video is about textures.

Mortiis(Posted 2008) [#2]
It's going pretty solid man, congratulations. I can't wait for the final release.

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#3]
Thanks Mortiis. I will need your help in this project in a month and a half about. Hope to have time for me ;)

Mortiis(Posted 2008) [#4]
Promise me a free version :) just kidding, I'll be happy to help.

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#5]
Hi,
Although the new site is not ready yet, I decided to publish some screen shots of Unlimited Drop Pro because some members of the community kindly ask me about the release date.

http://www.moraldigames.com/UDropPro.html

A demo will be available in next week.
I hope that I will offer a very good tool to all Blitzers of this World! :)

Thanks!

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#6]
Hi,
Unlimited Drop Pro first demo released!
Here is the download link:
http://www.moraldigames.com/UDProInstall.exe

The application is fully functional (except saves) and runs under WinXP environment

Install:
--------
Unzip the file in any folder you want (I am sorry about that but the installation program is not ready yet).
There is a sample.udp map file in the 'Samples' sub folder
There is a udp.dll and the corresponding .decls file inside the 'Blitz3D' sub folder.
There are also sample Blitz3D programs to access all information provided by the sample.udp file

Uninstall:
----------
Delete the folder containing the application and subfolders
There is also another file created in 'Documents And Settings\Curent User' subfolder named UDropPro.ini. You can delete it also

Quick Guide:
------------
Because help files are not complete yet please follow this quick guide to start playing with the application:
1. The basic idea behind UDropPro is Actor Types. First you create Actor Types and then create Actors (based on Actor Types) to place into your scene.
2. You can browse your hard disk to find 3D files (.x, .b3d, .3ds). You can switch to Preview Model mode to see the meshes
3. Create an Actor Type by pressing the 'Create' button on Actor Type tab
4. Create and place Actors by double click on an Actor Type

Futures:
--------
- Organize your actors to layers
- Create lights and alter their properties with a simple mouse click
- Create brushes and textures to paint Actors
- Define animation sequences for all animated Actor Types
- Define custom properties for all Actor Types
- Preview your level
- Customize the application user interface and look
- Undo list similar to Photoshop
- Define custom properties for your scene
- Define Ambient light

and many more...

And the most important:
Unlimited Drop Pro files are sqlite3 files. Advanced users will appreciate this.
In any case with the udp.dll that comes with the application you can access all the information stored. See samples!

Feel free to contact me if you have questions about the application. I will answer to you individually

boomboom(Posted 2008) [#7]
cool, I had a play with this at work, could you post up some example code on how you would interact with a scene file in blitz and read back some of the custom fields in an actor?

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#8]
Hi boomboom,
When you unzip the file you can locate a sub folder called Blitz3D. Here is code to load all the information stored in the .udp file

Kev(Posted 2008) [#9]
Moraldi sent you email

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#10]
For all those who are interesting here is the update page for UDrop Pro:

http://www.moraldigames.com/UDropPro.html

I prepare the documentation about loading the level from Blitz3D and C/C++.
After this the application will be released.

Note: Videos sizes are varying from 40-60 MB

SabataRH(Posted 2008) [#11]
Upon attempting to run the demo i get "UDProD.exe has stopped running, windows will now close the application and check for a solution."

Downloaded and installed it twice, same thing.. The screenshots looks lovely.

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#12]
Thanks.
Do you run it under Vista?

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#13]
Time has come. Unlimited Drop Pro is released.

http://www.moraldigames.com/UDropPro.html

There is a special 30% discount to ALL Blitz3D users.
My hope is to offer a very useful tool to you who helped me finish this product.

boomboom(Posted 2008) [#14]
for meshes with multiple parts (children) can attributes/params be added to the individual parts? and can the individual parts be renamed?

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#15]
You can't, because UDrop Pro 'assumes' that you have already built your models with your favorite application.
Custom properties can't help you?
I cannot imagine what you need but knowing the names of the bones/childs of a mesh you can set custom properties (for this mesh) setting the Name of the bone/child and the Value you want.

boomboom(Posted 2008) [#16]
When I try to load in one of my 3D meshes, I get 'Model not loaded to many triangles', and it doesn't let me bring the model in.

Have you set a triangle limit internally?

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#17]
yes, there is a limit of 32000 triangles per model.
Do you believe that I must increase this limit?

boomboom(Posted 2008) [#18]
Can you take out the limit? or set it to 2million or something.

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#19]
OK, I will add an option to application parameters...
It will be ready until Monday :)

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#20]
Option added!
Re download again (first uninstall the old installation).

Hotshot2005(Posted 2008) [#21]
I have download it, I click on help and tutorial but there is no tutorial :(
It look great tool.

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#22]
Thanks.
Yes you are right.
Please take a look to the online video tutorials (more they will come.)
Also you can read the manual and the application itself is very easy to use.
I will build some tutorials asap.

Mortiis(Posted 2008) [#23]
Yeah, I was meant to create those tutorials until you sold me out. At least reply my e-mails.

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#24]
Mortiis,
I got an e-mail from you containing very bad things about me. Because you know me and I know you better than the other forum members I can tell you the following:

1. First I have not any bad feeling for you because you are very young and I understand the passion of your age.
2. From your own fault my application delayed one month for releasing.
3. You gave sign of life only when I announce that I am looking for a person to do these tutorials.

Please give the answers to your self for the following questions:

- Why you didn't inform at all me about your progress?
- You didn't like the extra payment I promised after sales?
- You asked for money and I didn't send you?
- Did you send me samples of your work so I will be able to understand that you are working for me?
- Did you inform me that you need more time upon completion?

You are just complaining in this forum and in my e-mail box that I sold you.
Someone must teach you what 'dead lines' means.
I think this is not of any interest for forum members and I will not comment again about this

Mortiis(Posted 2008) [#25]
First, this is not the place, I wouldn't like to carry these on the forums but it's your thread, if you want it locked it's fine with me. You could always reply my e-mail...

Here is your answer;

You gave a deadline of one week, It was meant to be finished by sunday of the week you gave me the job then do you remember what you have done? You've posted an announcement on the forum by earlier friday looking for someone to work on your documents. You didn't bother to let me know, you didn't even send a word "Sorry Sarper but I changed my mind, we won't be working together". This is called respect. I finished your manual and tutorials I gave my time for your application and all I got is getting blocked from msn, no replies to forum posts or e-mails.

Yeah I'm young but I know what "respect" and "business" means. You may be old but you don't deserve any respect.

Anyway, good luck with your future projects George.

(By the way I add the mail I sent you without editing it so you can re-read it and tell me what are those "very bad things about you")

"Do you always do this? I was working hard in my little spare time, preparing your f**** user manual and what have you done? You posted an announcement, looking for people to prepare your documents. Now you never appear online in MSN, maybe you blocked me I don't know. What you have done is greatly rude and I curse you for that.

Just wanted to say you these as it looks like you still don't bother to send me an e-mail like "Don't prepare the manual, I don't want it anymore, Sorry for stealing your time"."

Amon(Posted 2008) [#26]
I see that Greek and Turkish relations are as ever very lively. :)

I'm Cypriot (Greek Cypriot) by the way. I paid Sarper to do a model for me. It was completed to my satisfaction in 1 day. Yep! 1 day. :) He also let me have a free bonus model that he modelled previously.

Anyway back on topic. I will check out unlimited drop pro and if it fits my needs I may buy it. The price seems reasonable. :)

Mortiis(Posted 2008) [#27]
I don't have ANY problem with ANY ethnic or cultural origin.

By the way I forgot to add George, I sent you a lot of screenshots if you like the design of the document, I even sent you the basic skeleton of the html menu and layout of the manual and do you remember you said "It's going to be professional!"

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#28]
It has nothing to do with political issues. I am sure you are all agree to this. It was only a collaboration that didn't work. That's all.

@Amon: I am glad to hear for your collaboration with Sarper! He is really a very talented guy.

About UDrop Pro: I am ready to hear your needs. Before start of this project I started first a thread to learn about this:

http://www.blitzbasic.com/Community/posts.php?topic=74187#861412

I believe that an application in order to be success first must be implemented on user needs and not to splashy attractive things. That's why I decided to write accompanying Blitz3D samples to focus on how to read the UDrop Pro files and not on how to create a level from these.

Mortiis(Posted 2008) [#29]
It was only a collaboration that didn't work. That's all.

Oh really? I think it's more than that. I think people here will learn to be more careful than me. I am young for one thing, trusting in you.

I'm really sorry everyone for taking this arguement here, just had to answer those questions as I was shown as a person who is irresponsible and unreliable.

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#30]
Here is another video demonstrating layered textures and how to apply them onto Actors:

http://www.moraldigames.com/videos/Painting.mov

Enjoy!

Hotshot2005(Posted 2008) [#31]
the video doesnt work :(

Naughty Alien(Posted 2008) [#32]
..what about lighting up scene??..this is near useless if I have good quality geometry set and all flat with no lighting..so, any good about that?

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#33]
@Hotshot: You need to install Quick Time plugin for your browser
@Naughty Alien: lighting up scene? UDrop Pro is not a lightmapper tool although it can import any lightmapped model that a Blitz3D can load.

Naughty Alien(Posted 2008) [#34]
well..it is level composing tool, so what you saying is previously creation of lightmap for every single object?? if so, why should i create level with multiple objects in UDrop Pro, when i can combine them too in lightmapper anyway, if i have to load specific lightmaps...whats advantage ?

Hotshot2005(Posted 2008) [#35]
yes my system already have quicktime but I dont understand why isnt working

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#36]
@Naughty Alien: It was not in my intention to make a light mapper tool. UDrop Pro is an entity placement application and it comes after the use of a light mapper. Please judge my application as an entity placement. application. Of course the choice is yours.

@Hotshot2005: What is your browser? You can't watch the videos on my web site also?

Naughty Alien(Posted 2008) [#37]
Im not judging Moraldi..i am sorry if I may sound rude..i do apologize...im just trying to see what is benefits of using it..thats all..im really sorry if i sound rude..it wasnt my intension at all..

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#38]
No problem, Naughty Alien. I used the term judgment but someone else can say that it is criticism. I really appreciate your comments. If I won't receive negative comments I can't be better. Besides, your comment gave me the opportunity, to inform all thread visitors, what my program is and what it can do for them.

Hotshot2005(Posted 2008) [#39]
Mine is Firefox :)

Gabriel(Posted 2008) [#40]
Your video page link is dead. It's not related to the browser, the plugins or anything. It's just a 404, dead link.

On the website, the link to the actor video is

http://moraldigames.com/ActorCreateVideo.html

But up there you have

http://www.moraldigames.com/Products/UDropPro/Tutorials/Development/Tutorial05.htm

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#41]
@Gabriel Thanks for the info but where did you find the above old link?
Officially (after the release) there are FOUR links:
3 in my web site. They are all valid links and this one:

http://www.moraldigames.com/videos/Painting.mov

(above in my previous post)

Gabriel(Posted 2008) [#42]
@Gabriel Thanks for the info but where did you find the above old link?

In your first post in this thread. I see now that it's three months old, but it's not immediately apparent when so much of the thread is recent. I'm guessing that's where HotShot was clicking too.

Hotshot2005(Posted 2008) [#43]
http://www.moraldigames.com/videos/Painting.mov

still not working!!!

this one work fine
http://moraldigames.com/ActorCreateVideo.html

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#44]
Ok, I am not an expert but try to right click on your first link and select 'Save Link As...' to save the movie in your hard drive. Then watch the video using one of your favorite video players.
I hope this helps! :)

Hotshot2005(Posted 2008) [#45]
I have follow your instructions and excellent.
Have you got anymore tutorial pls?

Moraldi(Posted 2008) [#46]
Yeah sure.
This one shows how to use the manipulator and the Drop mode:
http://www.moraldigames.com/videos/ManipulatorModes.mov

This one shows how to browse your hard disk for models and create an Actor Type:
http://www.moraldigames.com/videos/ActorType.mov

NOTE: By downloading the UDrop Pro demo you can use it forever as a media browser for graphic and 3D files.
