hi just in case anyone hasnt seen this yet, here is a handy plugin i use every day. As most people who use cinema4d know the built in .obj exporter is rubbish. this plugin give a much better export. I use it for exporting all of my level objects as one file for editing in unwrap 3d. without it i would need to export each bit one at a time and place each mesh.

Its free too

heres the link

Hi.

I love C4D but the exports function are sooo bad. I've tried riptide a few times but the UV coords come out all screwed.

The way round this is to, bizzarely enough, save the model as obj in Cinema, open the file in Wings3D, then save the file again as obj or .x

This is my way of fixing the problem. Just in case anyone else has the same issues.

6. I feel your pain.

i forgot the uv problem because i always do alot of uv tweaking in unwrap anyway like adding the second uv set for light mapping etc

Well if the title of this thread says "Cinema 4d users useful plugin" so here's another plugin that may be of use
SimpleMakerPro ( http://www.cinemax4d.de/simplemakerpro/home_us.html )

The site describes this product as "The SimpleMakerPro is the ultimative tool around polygon reduction and normal mapping. It is the consistent advancement of the legendary SimpleMaker. It consists of several modules and is meant for professionals and game developers, who make high demands at reduction quality."

i use that too it great. the finger is a great tool lets you reduce polys in just the area you point at.

anyone got any other useful plugin for cinema 4d. I really dont know why maxon havent added a exporter for animated meshes it would make cinema 4d great for games R10 animation/rigging system is so easy.

"I really dont know why maxon havent added a exporter for animated meshes it would make cinema 4d great for games"

I agree, but Cinema 4D is aimmed at TV/Film production work not the game developer market.

Edit: there is a Blitz3D (B3D) exporter some where on the web and in these forums

Here's another plugin for people that use Terragen http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/resources.shtml

Pete Carter(Posted 2008) [#8]
yes there is but ive never got it to work. both the b3d exporter and the xport plugin use the old method of rigging with vertex maps and the old bone system, which i had trouble with and that was the reason why i paid for r10 was to stop using that system.
