Highy recommded Repository containing a ton of old animation photography:

http://www.zeno.org/Fotografien/A/Muybridge,+Eadweard
(seems like the forum doesn't like the URL, so copy-paste)

Can be used as helper background images in animation works.

I am still searching for his more human-themed series (while the above link has lots of animals like horses, elephant, ape etc.)

You can get the books from Amazon or similar. They're a good reference!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=muybridge

There's even an edition with the (animated I assume) images on a CD or DVD.

As far as I see all his work is considered public domain, is that true?
