The textures I made with my camera come out like tiles. This is not what I require. How do I get a smooth seamless wall texture for my levels?

SSwift's Seamless Texture Generator

or

Create seamless texture function

Enjoy!

Making textures from photos requires a lot of work... first the photos have to be good, like lighting even without directinal shadows etc. There's a reason why peole buy texture packs; making them requires time and skill, just owning a digital camera is not enough.

"Making textures from photos requires a lot of work... "

yeah, tell me about it!! :P

STGs quite good, although it makes strange lighting on some textures.
Also, get the gimp (gimp.org) as it allows you to iwarp(goo) and push out the fish eye on the edges.

Of course, you could always use mine :)

PhotoShop is the Ultimate for Textures all-round, If you can afford it.
And if you do have photoshop v 6.0 or up GET THE DARK SIDe OF GAME TEXTURING BOOK its the most wonderful texture making, editing, etc: book on photoshop i've seen.
you can find it on amazon. David Franson, i believe, is the author.

Have you read The Dark Side of Game Texturing? I bought it, and I thought it was awful. Not nearly enough detail, and very few general principles you can build from. Heck, the sample textures he does himself don't even look very good.
