Does anyone know of a demo for LightWave?

QuickSilva(Posted 2006) [#2]
I seem to remember I had to send off for one and it took ages to arrive, about six months in fact! The full product though is worth every penny.

Is it easier to use than Maya or 3D Studio Max?

JustLuke(Posted 2006) [#4]
Nope, it's just different.

QuickSilva(Posted 2006) [#5]
I`d say so, yes. I find it extremely intuitive personally and always have since I first used it on my Amiga.

So... how is it different from the other two?

JustLuke(Posted 2006) [#7]
The interface is different, but the fundamental modelling techniques are the same.

Compared to MilkShape 3D (thats what I use), is the texturing system more advanced and complicated?

Slightly, like Ferrari and Punto.

Maya is best for animation and NURBS stuff I think, MAX is good for everything but bloated. Lightwave has good modeler but the animation tools suck. Also Lightwave has separate "modeler" and "layout" compared the usual "all in one".

If I were you I'd check XSI - cheaper than Lightwave and overall even better than MAX IMO.
