Is there a good way to take a picture, say a photo and to get a program to remap it using a specified palette? For example say I have a 256 colour image and I want it to be remapped down to 16 colours but using the palette I specify (which I have pre-built). Is this possible and can anyone suggest a program that actually does this if it is.

Thanks,
Jason.

It may not be quite what you are after but Irfanview lets you reduce the color depth of an image to any value you choose and you can edit the palette, but I don't know if you can specify a palette before reducing the color depth.

I`ll take a look, thanks. Lots of apps allow you to reduce the colours to the amount you specify but I cannot find one that allows what I am after. I`m sure there must be one out there though.

Just incase anyone else needs the same thing in the future I`ve found that Paint Shop Pro allows what I`m after by simply selecting load palette.

Jason you could use ProMotion simply

1: create and save your 16 colour palette then load in the 256 pic

2: load the saved 16 colour palette and use menu "colors/remap colors/frame

shame on you ;)

Of course, so simple ;) Thanks for the heads up.
