Does anyone know of a paint package that will batch convert a 'batch' of files within a directory from bmp to png format - cheers in advance :----}

Irfanview.com

download and install the software.

once you're in the folder, for example dble click in a file, as you would have probably asociated graphic files extensions to irfan view. Is like acdsea but free.

once in irfan, batch convert option is in file menu or hiting b key.

remember in that dialog you have advanced options button which gives u access to batch operations like resize, crop from certain coordinate, overlay text, resample, change color depth, etc, etc, etc, etc...

To me is one of the most useful graphic tools out there...

Definitely Irfanview.

I love XnView, http://perso.wanadoo.fr/pierre.g/xnview/enhome.html

It's got it all, but by all means test out infraView too.

Don't forget Photoshop!

@Bob3d: thanks, i've previously briefly used Ifranview to snapshot screens whilst playing NWNights - I never realised it had so much functionality.

@Line of 7's - thanks also

@ Rimmsy, I haven't tried XnView but i will consider it

@ Altitudem's - cheers also

I'm off to batch convert 50 odd images from 2048x2048 bmp to 44x44 png... <Edit> 30 minutes later I've batchconverted a directory from a gargantuan 682MBytes to 344 KBytes...Thanks again.
