Does anyone know anything about fbx file format. The people at Cinema 4d tell me it is in version v9 and can be used for game model production including animation.

It's a barely supported closed format. What 'we' know about it is through hacking the thing to pieces. I wouldn't bother with it.

I use FBX to get my stuff from Daz Studio, poser etc into XSI, never really tried it for game related stuff.

check over on the Beyond Virtual site... they use fbx etensively over there...

I think fbx is getting quite popular as most of the big apps support it, making it fairly portable. Just don't think its really been adopted by the indie crowd just yet.

Alias bought Kaydara , and then made the format open.
Autodesk bought Alias, thus:
