Something that I've run into on my travels on the WWW.

When one does character faces, one propably does so based on real life likenesses and intuition (like any goo artist would). Seeing so many awful models with faces which just didn't look right set me on a journey of discovery, to find out what makes a believeable face. I then saw a BBC programme with John Cleese and Elizabeth Hurley called 'The Human Face' which detailed the math of the human face, covering both attractive and unatractive faces.

There is actually a lot of scientific research on the subject, all the way back to Leonardo Davinci. If you want the math behind the beauty of a face, then I would recommend that you start here.
