Hi guys,

What pixel animation tool do you recommend to develop pixel art and animated sprites for use in BlitzMax.

I am aware of Pro Motion and Pro Pixel Animator.

-I like Animshop included with PSP.

-for just animation, for hi res I mean, I just love the feel of maker of Opencanvas, but the animation tool is only in japanesse, I could handle well the demo, anyway, all uis look alike, even in weird characters, lol.

-Adobe Photoshop does freaking well the trick with layers, once you get used.Or maybe I am just to PS fan.

-That Gale thing is quite good, but i don't like the flashing it makes in the real time preview.

-A good combo is Adobe PS, and load the psd with layers in Animshop...if u can, try it. Remember u can make a psd also With Gimp for Windows, and that there's a thing called Gimpshop, for which there's now a windows port, that makes all gimp windows be cfocused in one, and works.Yet though I don't like gimp for my wacom, they'r not good friends.

-Ultimate Paint can do well, in some situation.

-I haven't checked Snarty's tools, but may worth a look at blitzcoders .

OMG!

I forgot all about Gale - Thanks!

I even have it installed somewhere on my overly bloated PC Hard drive, I'll go back and check it again now -

Many thanks for reminding me of it.

You might be suprised, but flash is pretty good too as an animation tool. You can export to frames as well as avi's.
Just a thought if you already have flash.

One Eyed,

Yeah Flash 8 Pro arrived on Thursday -hhhhmmmmmm lovely! :)
I have used Flash for some stuff a while ago. It's good but having grown up with pixel tools I wanted to find a 'square by square' paint tool with animation, Graphics Gale is now doing the job quite nicely thanks.

Btw check out what I did with Flash last night:

IPete2: That just looks like a video. Are you telling me it's not? :O

IPete2(Posted 2005) [#10]
hah video well okay yes its just an swf file with an embedded video - no external files... it is also using the new flash 8 video codec and has Flash graphic items overlaid, live in the swf, which is the first time I've done that. Has a nice little shadow just to help it out a bit, and it didn't take as long as I thought it would to sort the whole thing out.

Done in a Flash (almost!).
