XSI b3d exporters?

Is there an animation/model exporter for xsi in the b3d format around? for 4.2 or 5.

Been learning this one in my own time, we use max at work, but are strongly thinking of switching over. 500 doller pricetag for the basic edition, which has everything needed for a full project.
3d buzz has some great tutorials up.

Anyways, anyone know of an exporter, or have on in the works?

I think you need to export as .x and then convert to .b3d with Unwrap3D or some other app with an x->b3d pipeline. There was a discussion here about it a while back.

yup, I did a test.

xsi x exporter works nice. Imported into Ultimate unwrap well. Even though u seee it distorted, it'll load ok in any x viewer like deep exploration or MS dx sdk tool called mview.exe.

In Unltimate unwrap, make needed fixes, and export as b3d file.

No single step pipeline though.
Hrm. A definate negative.
Sorry, a stickler for clean art pipelines.

Then buy Max.

Oh, I have, I bought max at 1.2, and have been upgrading since, and we use it exclusively at work.

Getting a little frustrated with some long standing crash bugs, large memory footprint, poor viewport performance...
Anyways,

Attempting to see how much work is involved in switching my home modeling programs to xsi.

quite some, specially from Max, imho...

yet though, it may worth it...

BTW, I only model in Wings3d, while some others for fixing or special stuff, like allways handy Milkshape3d, Ultimate Unwrap, converters, etc. Overall I have all my workflows covered, indeed, is same tools I use at work, among others.

Has an xsi exporter been made available for blitz?

Unfortunatly not.

You can use the ActorX plug in for unreal with XSI and export animated b3ds via milkshape that way.

Personally I'm almost willing to pay someone to write an exporter for XSI. The dotXSI format seems very simple to read/understand and looks like it would cover most of the b3d functionality but I can't face doing it myself.
