I've just been to the havok website looking for information. I cannot find anywhere on their site anything about the price.

Does anyone know how much it will cost?

Besides ODE, does anyone know of any other physics engine?

don't know how up to date this is, but a price is given for havok there: http://www.gamasutra.com/features/20000920/lander_pfv.htm

Last time I looked at Havok for a commercuial game it was $10,000 per title. Things may have changed since then, being 3 years ago.

We use Havok at work; forget about licensing it for Blitz apps... too pricey. Only real alternatives are Tokamak and ODE, and they both have they own problems... but they are free, so it's hard to complain. There just isn't really good and 100% working physics available for hobbyist games at the moment IMO.

Other commercial physics engines:

Novodex/Ageia:

Hi,

if you''re not especially after havok for blitzX and more after how to get a version of havok in a more or less cheap way than you do have two chances:

- In Macromedia director there is/was havok support included (since version 8.5). MM did not renew their licence for the actual version. Anyway it still works but this is not an actual version of havok - no havok 2 (so slower, no softbodies, ...).

- In virtools you can buy a licence for something about $5000. Also not the newest version - builts on version 1.x but it's much better than the one in director.

- Beside of several game-SDKs i don't know of any other 3d packages where it's included. But maybe there is somekind of information if you check their list of clients.

Greetings,
