Hi, I know i've asked about this sort of thing before for cars and such, This time i'm considering getting a book on modeling humans with splines and nurbs and i dont have lots of money to get packages like maya 6 and such. does anyone know of a cheap package with support for nurbs and splines, i dont mind if the price is slightly under or over £200 aslong as it is good for what i need it for. oh and i need it to be able to be used commercialy so that i can sell what i've done in the package and put into my games. please can anyone advise.

Rhino is the best ever in that. but is 895$, for comercial use. www.rhino3d.com

hamapatch is quite good, also, but is freeware totally :

Yet though is way less powerful than rhino

But it has referece image loading, for trace over, OBj export with level of subdivision, etc...Very good.

I have used to certain extent for accurate curved surface models.

Ayam is quite good and open source, dunno if there's any export available...is quite advanced.

Blender has some nurbs, but has one of the hardest learning curves ever, and not every body is fond of it.

give amapi designer a look @ http://www.eovia.com/products/amapi_designer/amapi_designer.asp

maybe not the best but has the features you want, is cheap, runs on mac and windows.......kinda weird to understand to start, but once you get a hang for it it's quite logical.

my 2c

Thank you for the help. I think Rhino would probably be best because it has a simple interface, but shall keep the other in mind. thanks again.
