No pun intended by the way when i say nice in the topic. This modeller is nothing to do with me,just letting you know.

Erroneouss(Posted 2004) [#3]

i like it!!
;D
nice and easy animation stuff!

I don't have 3ds max, but I bet ya Lightray 3d is comparable. Its definatly compatable, with 3ds and b3d.
And there site had over 50 tutorials on page 1 of there tutorials. Also the program at first run seems rock solid.
very nice. Now I wonder if I can make something with it.
It still requires tallent,,, bummer

Tried it and hate it- and I'm a long time 3d Studio Max user.

wizzlefish(Posted 2004) [#6]
That sounds pretty good. I'll check it out. :)

wizzlefish(Posted 2004) [#7]
I checked out the 3DS Max website (discreet.com) - It showed a price of $3,550. Is this correct?

Falelorn(Posted 2004) [#8]
yup

Bob3d(Posted 2004) [#9]
I tried it, I don't think is at the level of Max.
That'd be to say way much, indeed. ;)

RiverRatt(Posted 2004) [#10]
I said "comparable", and you did compair them right?
I tried 3ds max, and just felt the same kind of lost confusion as Lightray.
But still lightray has some good points like the animated
tuts, and some users made some nice gun models. I don't
recal seeing any organic models though.
Free makes it "nice".

eBay.

Craig H. Nisbet(Posted 2004) [#15]
Man, you Max Guys gotta try modelling lightwave. We don't use it for any other part of the animation pipeline. But all the modellers love it, even the guys that were die hard max and maya fans.

wizzlefish(Posted 2004) [#16]
eBay - never heard such a sweeter word....except "freeBay"

MikeHart(Posted 2004) [#17]
Lightray3D looks nice. form the prize tag you can compare it with a bundle like Milkshape/Unwrap3D/CFX. Not bad at all.

wizzlefish(Posted 2004) [#18]
They make a Milkshape/Unwrap3D/CFX bundle?!?!?
