Wings 3D problem

Hi folks,

I've just started using Wings, what a great modeller!

I have a full car mesh, when exported as .3ds it works fine in Blitz3D and the mesh looks smooth when light reflects off it.

However, if I remove some of the mesh (i.e. the windows), then export it as .3ds, when I load it into Blitz3D all of the smoothing has been lost. This happens if there are any holes in the exported mesh.

How do you retain the smoothing when there are holes in the mesh?

try to export assigning hole material instead of deleting..anyway, in wings you can't make real holes...theyr made at export...

oops

btw, 3ds use to lose smoothing...

I rather prefer OBJ, and export as 3ds, b3d, or x -I prefer x to 3ds- from Ultimate Unwrap.

From Lithunwrap, or a bunch of other converters, you can convert OBJ-->3ds or x.

Thanks for the reply Bob3d.

Assigning the mesh segments as hole materials instead of deleting has fixed the smoothing problem.

Nice one :)
