Content tool chain poll

Community Forums/Developer Stations/Content tool chain poll

"It's a minefield" ~MasterBeaker, quoted from this thread:
http://www.blitzbasic.com/Community/posts.php?topic=35717
I'd like to take this a bit further. There seems to be a number of questions in the forums about the most suitable tools for content creation. There *are* a LOT of content creation tools out there for Blitz and I'd like to get a sampling from Blitz users on who uses what. When this poll concludes, I'll tally and normalize the results and post them in another thread for all to examine.

To participate in this poll there are three rules:
1. You may only list the tools that you ACTUALLY use. No "I'm gonna buy it" entries. Or, "this really looks cool" entries. You must actually have the tool and use it for your content creation.
2. No flaming, bitching or slamming. Please be civil and professional.
3. One entry per user please. No duplication.

Here's my entry to start things off: (Remember, this is what I actually use)

Wings3d - 3D modeler
MilkShape3d - rigging and animation
UU3D - UV mapping and .b3d export
Paint Shop Pro - texturing and 2D graphics

Bot Builder(Posted 2004) [#2]
Truespace 3 - (grimace) 3d modeler
UU3D - UV mapping and .b3d export
Gimp - texturing and 2D graphics

[Edit] Now I've found the joys of Wing3d so I'll probably use it instead of UU3D

I forgot to mention B3D Tweak. Very useful for doing multitexturing and setting up brush FX in b3d files.

I just started using DeleD and Slim Shady. I don't expect these tools will replace any of my current workflow, but these are very good free options for level editing and lightmapping (respectively.)

Bob3d(Posted 2004) [#17]
can u post some screen of your results with slimshady... ?

i think with some tweaking it can be used for good :)

jhocking(Posted 2004) [#18]
I suppose I could. Don't hold your breath waiting though; like I said, that tool is just something I'm playing with, not planning to use seriously. I already have gile[s] and that's the best lightmapper around. But jfk deserves major props for creating a really good free lightmapping tool. No offense to Skitchy (not that he cares much, what with the splash he's making with his new tool ALE) but I really can't imagine anyone would buy Lightbulb now that a free tool is available which uses the same lightmapping engine AND has a better interface.

Come to think of it, if you'd like to see what kind of results people can get with Slim Shady, look for screenshots created with Lightbulb. It's the same lightmapping engine.

Yeah, I hate it when they're used for evil... ;)
