Hi,
I want to create some 2D, 3D looking graphics for a game (if you know what i mean - cause im not even sure if im explaining it right). Can anyone recommend a piece of graphics software because all i have is paint (although thats not a bad thing - i just want smaller files than a pixel based program). So any recommendations would be great.

Thanks

Paintshop pro (versions 4 - 7) is reasonable for 2d pixel graphics. You could also try promotion, which is aimed directly at game dev (although has a limited 256 color pallete)

http://www.jasc.com/products/paintshoppro (they only have version8, which is not as user-friendly for 2d work I found)

Personally I use paintshop pro to do sprites, it can be a bit tricky doing animation, as animation shop (which comes with it) is a piece of turd!

How about Blitz3D?

Create a scene, render it, then paste it into your favorite Painting program.

Like skn3[ac] said, I too like PaintShop Pro. Very good programs for game making artwork.

Pro Motion worths the penny.....

However, a bit pricy for individuals.

The latest issue of PC Plus has a commercial program called Canvas on the DVD (apparently sold for £395). That might be useful to you.
