Hi All,

Just wanted to get everyone's opinion as to which one is
the best for making Level maps for Blitz3D?
And I did state above "Everyone's Opinion"... I know I can
download the demos and try them myself and such and already
have! I just wanted to get everybody else's opinion on the
matter and how the programs measured up with their projects?
Also please state how the support of the map editor's are
as well... Thank's alot Guys!

IMHO. Cshop is WAY more intuitive and is capable of excellent results. Admittedly I know little about Quill3D since I tried the demo and it is,well, let's just say somewhat less intuitive to use. With Cshop you'll probably have your level halfmade before you think to read the help file. Just IMHO.

Kozmi(Posted 2004) [#3]
Ok... But I've been reading alot of bad comments on CShop
though in another thread on this forum and I just wanted to see just how popular CShop is compaired to that of Quill3D.

CodeD(Posted 2004) [#4]
Many people have had problems importing CShop files into BlitzBasic, things are exactly where they're supposed to be etc., and I think only usable format CShop exports to is .x, I don't know if it supports the lightmap as well.
Quill3D is made for BlitzBasic so you can probably expect better functionality.

CS4:
----

If you don't wan to have any problems don't buying CS4.

The version 4.0 it's very unless than the old version 3.2. and he don't work like what the features says.

You can't Carving, hollow, Lightpmap., ...

Only thing you can do it's : Export in .csm or .x !

The support it's very bad.

-----------------------------------------------------------

MapBuilder :
------------

You can try at : http://www.skydat.net/MapBuilder/index.html

The support it's very fast.

-----------------------------------------------------------

GameSpace 1.5 + Level Exporter :
--------------------------------

I try this some days ago, he its not bad for me.

no version ever worked as the features said.
CS3 had no mesh lightmapping for example

and Quill should have a far better UV Mapping than CShop whichs system is crap and tend to export garbage you can't correct.
*besides the exporting problem in the lightmap model because of /0 problems of the lightmapper*

Quill 3D it's a good choice for the moment i think, or the free DeleD.

CS4 = Lost money for get alot of problems and troubles for nothing.

Alot of professionals using only their hands and 3DS Max 6 + some plug-ins for building a full game.

My dream it's this one :

Personally I'd steer away from quill aswell now as birdie isn't supporting it personally any more so I wouldn't expect any new features.

BlackJumper(Posted 2004) [#11]
Quill got an update to v1.52 just last week (although it seems to have been passed over to Idigicon by Birdie much earlier than that !?!)

I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but speed increases in the UI are mentioned... my main issue with the earlier version !

Ricky Smith(Posted 2004) [#12]
I like Quii3d - don't care if there's no more updates cos its got all I currently need - don't care if its not supported because it works just fine for my purposes.

JoshK(Posted 2004) [#13]
Okay, okay, I am writing a b3d exporter for CShop 4 right now.

Kornflex(Posted 2004) [#14]
Happy to hear you Josh and your good decision.

Give this a try. Works with version 4.0 or 4.1:

@halo

Hey man! When do you think you will implement CSG functions
into CShop 4 ??? I would buy your product right now if it had CSG capabilities right now! I think that CShop is very
good and all... But I would like to be able to create &
save prefabs right out of CShop 4 and also be able to carve
and hollow blocks and other geometry in that way. Any ideas
as to when CShop will have these features in it?

Thank's alot man...

JoshK(Posted 2004) [#17]
It's in the beta right now, and we are doing some testing before we release v4.1.

Kozmi(Posted 2004) [#18]
Ahh OK...

That sound's GREAT!!!! Is there any chance you could post a link to that beta version so I may try it out and see how it does and all?!? Id' appreciate it very much!

Thank's again!

Also, integrate the b3d exporter/importer/whatever into the new version. I think that would certainly help sales.
