Hi,

I Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on a new lightmapping application called Luminescence 3D. http://www.insight-concepts.com/products/luminescence3d/
It is not officially released yet, but they are offering a public beta. No help file though. It supports B3D and a few other file formats as well. The performance is incredible and the quality is just as impressive. Ill list a few features below:

Radiosity
Individual radisosity settings for each object
Individual lightmap settings for each object
Reflections
Multiple Object Import
Directory Import
You can save the lightmaps as 7 different file formats

There is too much to list… They have a full list on their site: http://www.insight-concepts.com/products/luminescence3d/features.php

Looks nice, but they really need an artist to create some sample screenshots for them cause the lighting in those ones is crappy. :-)

They are sponsoring a lightmapping contest, and you can win a free copy of Luminescence 3D.

I see this prog's release date has been delayed till 30 April.

Playing around with the beta gives me nice results on my dodgy Lightwave created level geometry.

In the bedroom picture there's light on the bed in the outline of the windows but the windows themself show no evidence of light coming through them nor does the table lamp seem to have any effect on the light. Not global illumination I suppose. Not that I'm any expert, I've just been spoiled...;)

Doesn't look as good as Gile[s], but maybe if they use better models/textures/lighting ... interface-wise it seems pretty much okay.

I think its just another Gile[s] clone... (muahah.. just had to say it ^^)

Gile[s] costs 15$ less and does the same work.. I have made my bed and I am happy with my choice ^^
