Hi, does anyone know of an older program that converts midis to oggs? I want to get one on disc from ebay or something. Can't beat discs :)

(please move to general help)

Mod plug tracker can export midi to wav. it needs an soundfont. The sound output has a bit flaws.

the wav's can be converted to ogg with Audacity .

You could look at OpenMpt aswell, but i havent tried it.

Use LMMS. LMMS is a free cross platform Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) a lot like FL Studio. You will need to acquire some soundfont2 files if you wish to use General Midi sounds, but you can play around with the built in instruments. Check out http://zdoom.org/wiki/sound_fonts for links.

You should be able to import the midi data directly into D.A.W. editing tools and export them into a number of formats. LMMS suports wav and compressed ogg.

Goldwave is a cute practical editor, try to find version 4 instead of 5. You might like it.
My personal favorite for splicing and dicing audio if I need something small. Very nice and easy to use.

Sorry I read WAV to OGG. MIDI you say.. I would need to think about that for a minute.

That was a tough one I remember trying OpenMPT and MODplug but they are very.. um you need to tinker alot to get things right. It could get frustrating with conversion using them.
It's sometimes just easier to re-recordd everything manually using Cubase or something but that's expansive and still needs a bit of work.

I checked LMMS it seems to be like an okay free DAW with the right abilities. I´m not sure how well it does though.
You have to setup quiet a few things it seems https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txzJEoj5wC0

If you got a PC and some money to spare I would try something like this to get things very automatic:
http://widisoft.com/catalog/direct-midi-to-mp3.html

Goldwave easly loads wav/mp3/ogg and saves wav/mp3/ogg. So that mp3 at the end of the title is no problem.
The hard bit is to get quality MIDI to ANY audio format. So DirectMIDItoMP3 + Goldwave for instance would be a nice route.

EDIT
There's also this one (Both for PC and Mac) and it saves ogg directly aswell.

Or you could do this if you're feeling hackish, say you can already play MIDI good on your machine somehow, then you can get a audiodriver which can fetch what the computer is playing.

In my experience, don't use ModPlug, use OpenModPlug. The latter is a community edition with several improvements.

Open your MIDI file and export it to WAV. OpenMPT will render the audio using the soundbank from Windows (those infamous MIDI sounds that are not very realistic).

With a WAV in your hands you can use any other tool to convert it to the desired format.
Audacity makes it easy to export something to OGG.
