Was just reading about King James I of England at the turn of the 17 th century lecturing about the perils of tobacco, what a visionary. Although he was heralded as the biggest fool in christendom back then.... Interesting article on the 3500 shirt. |

The thing the article forgets to mention is that a "medieval Tshirt" would probably last several decades whereas a "cheap chinese tshirt" will last 1 year at most... And also that the reduction in costs of production is not only because of machines and improved techniques but also because of organised slavery via the money (different currencies/taxes/costs of essentials things in a given region) But yeah machines to do the repetitive tasks are a good progress... |

True, but $3500 would buy a lot of the chinese ones. And she said that's not even including the cost to grow the raw material. We also just throw away shirts that get torn, as opposed to sewing them up or using them as patches. |
