Is there a way to change the mouse cursor either through a blitz+ command or a userlib. I just want to use simple things like the diagonal resize arrows, the 4 way move arrow, and the pointy finger (the hour glass would be nice as well)

Yes, check out the LoadImage function in User32.dll.
