Have started porting the PortMIDI Library as a module if anyone interested. I can email copies for now.

I have uploaded the first installment. It compiles the module!
Will only be testing on MSW initialy but am trying to make the module multi platform as I go.
to compile module you will need MinGW etc.. and use:
cd c:\program files\BlitzMAX\bin
bmk makemods
there is a small test application as well.
Please remember this is the first bash and it does very little ATM.

Nigel, I don't know if this will help or not, but here's a pretty darn thurough description of the midi file format:

http://www.borg.com/~jglatt/tech/midifile.htm

What's the module do, so far? Playback? Output to devices? Just a bunch of types for the programmer to use when parsing midis manually?

I experimented a while ago with vst instruments, however I failed misserably to get my head round the midi time code, had any luck?
